lyrics
i can hear your hooves and your horns outside my door
but just wait
the man on the street says i’ll see you soon
and all my friends too
into the flames together
ashes to ashes
into the dust my brother
is it all for love
groomed for the dirt
where we’ll grow like weeds
back through the earth
praise unto your head
and the blood at your feet
imagine the skeletons we’ll collect
and the ghosts we’ll meet
someday before our words reach the end of the page
conquerors of the new world will suffer the old fate
too close to the sun with our wings
brother, we’re ashes forever
is it all for love
groomed for the dirt
where we’ll grow like weeds
back through the earth
are the harvest crops really any surprise
A crushingly beautiful power trio. A mountain range is better experienced in person but sometimes photographs will have to suffice till the next engagement. Faux/Fox

Throughout this album, somehow, Sufjan makes me care about the state of Illinois. From detailed depictions of various landmarks and folklore, to moments of deep personal introspection; Illinois builds an incredibly dense narrative out of it's seemingly simple concept. The variety of sounds on this album is remarkable, compelling me to smile in one moment, then leaving me a sobbing mess in the next. One of the very few albums I'd consider to be 100% perfect. This imaginative release from Monty Cime blends Latin folk music and experimental noise for a sense of surreal nostalgia. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 30, 2023
Strange and angsty alternative rock from Los Angeles that hovers between haunting and pretty and sharp and driving. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 27, 2023
